Good questions.

Everything people ask us before their first visit. Can't find yours? Just give us a ring.

The big one

Will the sand wreck my brakes?

No, it won't. We hear this one a lot, but for a day's driving at the quarry the impact on your brakes is negligible. Our wheel wash is there to give you peace of mind before you head home.

Your day

Do I need to book?

No. Just turn up on any Pay & Play day. We're open 9:30am to 4pm.

How much is it, and how do I pay?

£30 per 4x4 or buggy with passengers free, £30 per quad, £10 for an extra quad rider, £7.50 for adult spectators. Under 17s are free with an adult. Cash only, please.

Can I get food and drink?

Yes. Teas, coffees and light refreshments are available on site.

Can I stay overnight?

Sorry, no overnight stays or camping at the quarry, but Birch Farm Campsite is just over the road.

Do you do gift vouchers?

We do. Email contact3rddimensionevents@gmail.com and we'll sort one out.

Your vehicle

What can I bring?

Your own 4x4, road-legal buggy or quad bike (adult riders). Trailered vehicles are fine too, as long as the trailer and vehicle are in good condition.

Does my 4x4 need to be modified?

No. We've got gentler tracks as well as the tough stuff, so drive the sections that suit you and your vehicle. Not sure? Ask on the day.

Am I insured?

Normal road insurance rarely covers driving at an off-road centre, so please check with your insurer before you come. If you choose not to insure your vehicle, the risk is yours. Everyone signs a short disclaimer when they arrive.

Safety and help

What happens if I get stuck?

Sound your horn and a marshal will come over. Recovery is free. Just have a tow rope with you, attached and ready.

I've never done this. Can you help?

Of course. Everyone gets a safety briefing, a vehicle check and the offer of basic instruction on gears and brakes. Professional instruction is available for a fee. Call or WhatsApp Luke on 07926 392762 to talk it through.

Who can drive?

Anyone with a full UK licence. There's no driving for children on site.

Family and friends

Can I bring the kids?

Please do. Under 17s are free with an adult and there's a children's play area. For safety, children need to stay inside a 4x4 or at the top of the site, and they're your responsibility throughout.

Can my friends just come and watch?

Absolutely. Adult spectators on foot are £7.50. Passengers in a 4x4 go free.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, on a lead or in your locked vehicle. Please clear up after them.

The paperwork

Everyone signs our site disclaimer when they arrive. Download a copy to read before you come, along with our public liability insurance.

First time off-road?

A few things that'll make your first day easier. Everything else, we'll show you when you get here.

  1. Walk it first

Can't see over it or through it? Hop out and take a look. Keep an eye out for other vehicles while you do.

  2. Match your speed to the ground

Some sections need a crawl, others a bit of momentum, so pick a speed that suits the terrain. Whatever the section, the site limit is 5mph.

  3. Straight up, straight down

Don't turn across a slope. If you stall on a climb, stay straight and reverse back down in gear.

  4. Thumbs out

Keep your thumbs on the outside of the wheel. Ruts can kick the steering hard.

  5. Check before you wade

Know how deep it is before you go in, then keep it slow and steady. A marshal will happily tell you.

  6. Bring a tow rope

And find your recovery points before you need them. A tow ball is not a recovery point.

  7. Bring cash and spare clothes

We're cash only. Wellies, a coat and a change of clothes will make the drive home far nicer.

  8. Ask us anything

Everyone here had a first day once. If you're not sure about a section, come and ask.

Still not sure?
